Most plants will require chemical dosing to some degree or another. Our systems are typically PLC controlled for precise dosing with minimal wastage. The following are some of the typical dosing chemicals for a leachate treatment plant.
Caustic Soda
The activity of treating bacteria (which prefer a slightly alkaline environment) creates acidity. In order to keep the SBR contents slightly alkaline it is necessary to dose in periodically a strong alkali – up to 47% Caustic Soda. This can be done automatically using a pH feedback control system.
Phosphoric Acid
Which acts as a nutrient may need to be added from time to time to raise the acidic levels and/or feed the bacteria. This can either be a simple as a hand operated pump or in some cases a full pumping system is required.
Antifoam
While aerating the leachate foam can be produced normally due to site condition (underground). This can be treated immediately with the addition of antifoam. Again this can either be a simple as a hand operated pump or in some cases a full pumping system is required.
